Laura Collins Luncheon

Laura Collins

Thursday 5th November – Guest Speaker Luncheons

Laura Collins

Laura is a dancer and actor steeped in show business. She started dancing at the age of three and working at 12.

It is highly likely that showbiz is in her genes as her father, Leslie, was a leading jazz musician of his generation and her early introduction to the world of dance started when she accompanied her parents and her father’s band as they toured the British seaside resorts in their heyday. Therefore, it was no surprise that between the ages of 11 and 17 she would study at the world-famous Italia Conti Drama School. As part of the set-up was a theatrical agency, she got her first paid job when she was 12 appearing in a TV commercial “Have a break – Have a Kit-Kat.”

On leaving Conti she was often in pantomimes and repertory theatre. But it was her dancing skills that first brought her to public attention when she started working for the legendary “Pan’s People” choreographer, Flick Colby.

Guest arrival 12 noon, sit down for luncheon at 12:30pm.
£40 per person, with £10 being donated to The Grand Order Of Water Rats and guest speaker.
